Zoom transcription: three ways to get a transcript
Zoom can caption a meeting, but a caption is not a record. Here are the three ways to turn a Zoom meeting into text you can actually use: Zoom's built-in transcription, uploading the recording afterwards, or an assistant that joins the call.

Option 1: Zoom's built-in transcription
Zoom can generate captions live and, with cloud recording, an audio transcript of the recording. Zoom's support pages list three requirements for the transcript: a Pro, Business, Education or Enterprise account, cloud recording enabled, and audio transcription enabled in your settings. Zoom's AI assistant can also summarize meetings; on the free tier, summaries are limited to three hosted meetings a month.
The limits show when the transcript needs to be a record. It lives inside Zoom's cloud, it only exists for meetings you host and record to the cloud, and meetings on Teams or Meet end up somewhere else entirely. If your organization has rules about where meeting data may be stored, Zoom's cloud is a question to answer, not a given.

How to get Zoom's own transcript, step by step
If your account meets the requirements above, this is the usual route:
- Make sure cloud recording and audio transcription are both enabled for your account in the Zoom web portal.
- Start the meeting and record it to the cloud. Zoom's transcript is made from cloud recordings.
- After the meeting, wait for processing; the transcript can take longer than the recording. Zoom emails you when it is ready, and it appears as a separate VTT file next to the recording.
- If you have met the requirements but do not see the option, Zoom's support pages advise contacting Zoom Support to enable it.

Option 2: upload the recording to Klang
