Microsoft Teams transcription, with or without the right license

Teams has transcription built in, behind the right Microsoft 365 license, the right admin switches and the right meeting type. Klang transcribes any Teams meeting you can join or record, and turns it into notes you can search and verify.

01

What Teams gives you

With an eligible Microsoft 365 license and transcription enabled by your admin, Teams can produce a live transcript of a meeting, and Copilot can summarize it on plans that include it. Inside a fully Microsoft organization with the right licensing, that covers a lot.

The friction is real, though: transcription is off until an admin turns it on, availability differs between meeting types and license tiers, guests and external meetings complicate things, and the output lives in the Microsoft ecosystem as a document rather than a verifiable record.

Transcribing Teams meetings with Klang

Klang's assistant joins your Teams meetings as a visible participant, records, and delivers a speaker-separated transcript plus notes with a summary, decisions and to-dos. Meetings you cannot have the assistant in, you record and upload afterwards; the result is the same.

No license audit, no admin ticket: if you can join the meeting or record it, you can transcribe it. Every sentence links to its place in the recording, and every meeting joins one searchable record across Teams, Zoom, Meet and the conference room.

03

For organizations outside the Microsoft bubble

Most organizations do not live in one vendor's world. Sales calls happen on Zoom, customer meetings on Meet, internal ones on Teams, interviews in the room. A per-platform transcription feature gives you four half-records in four places.

Klang treats them as one: same transcription in 40+ languages, same speaker separation, same notes, same searchable record. And the data side is one answer instead of four: processed in Europe, data processing agreement, no AI training on your conversations, ISO 27001:2022 certified.

Frequently asked questions

How do I transcribe a Microsoft Teams meeting?

Either enable Teams' built-in transcription (requires an eligible Microsoft 365 license and admin settings), or use Klang: let the assistant join the meeting, or upload the recording afterwards. Klang delivers a speaker-separated transcript and notes with summary, decisions and to-dos.

Why is transcription grayed out in my Teams?

Usually licensing or policy: transcription must be enabled by your admin and requires an eligible license, and availability differs between meeting types. Klang works without any of that, as long as you can join or record the meeting.

Can I transcribe a saved Teams recording?

Yes. Upload the file to Klang and it is transcribed like any other meeting: speakers separated, summary and to-dos drafted, every sentence linked to the audio.

Does it handle meetings in other languages?

Klang transcribes in more than 40 languages and handles meetings that switch language midway, with automatic speaker separation throughout.

Where is the data processed?

In Europe. Klang offers a data processing agreement, never uses your conversations to train AI and is ISO 27001:2022 certified. On-premise installation is available.
